Basic admission requirements include submission of an application for admission and transcripts for all previous academic study. In addition, undergraduate applicants are required to meet a minimum grade point average (GPA) standard of 2.3 and a minimum of 60 semester credit hours of acceptable college-level course work from an approved institution, as guided by the State of Georgia Board of Regents Core Curriculum. Waivers are not allowable for basic admissions requirements.
Applicants for admission should review closely the minimum admission requirements for their college of choice and should understand that rarely are minimum qualifications adequate for admission to a particular program. Higher priority is given to those applicants who exceed the minimum requirements.
Applications for the College of Graduate Studies, College of Allied Health Sciences, and the College of Nursing that meet institutional minimum standards for admission will be forwarded to program admission committees for review and consideration based upon program standards.
In order to be admitted, the student must be accepted by the GHSU program and college to which admission is sought. Acceptance will be based upon competitive evaluation of the qualifications for the applicant with consideration of the space availability and resources. Any waiver of program admission requirements requires approval by the Dean of the respective college. Documentation must be provided to support the decision for the waiver.
International applicants are required to seek verification of transcripts from foreign colleges and universities by an approved transcript evaluation service.
For additional admission requirements to specific programs of study, applicants are encouraged to refer to the program Web site.
